I just don't think that she's really been all that much of a success! She's pretty much just another one of those "one hit wonders", where as Anthony Callea has been a huge success, with his first single to be the fastest-selling single in Australian history! I hardly think she's attractive at all, and is not much of a target to a teenage audience, which is what Australian Idol is looking for!

She is actually dangerously overweight, and doesn't set a good example for kids of today in an already Obese society, the problems she could have with her heart & lungs are bad as it is, let alone condoning her less than healthy lifestyle.

If she got a personal trainer, and kept up the singing lessons, she could have a top future.. but for now, she's just another fat chick who can sing.

Casey is the most amazing performer I have ever heard.... and let me tell you, at 44 I've heard ALOT. Not only is her career NOT over, but she will surprise all you detractors with her next album. I have also heard four of her new songs (which she wrote in collaboration) and they are absolutely brilliant. Her own management refer to Anthony as a "pop star" and Casey as a "musician". Casey is in this for the long haul. And those of you who are so shallow to focus only on her image need to take a long hard look in the mirror. NONE of us are perfect. Some may have the "package" outwardly but have the personality of a dead wombat. Casey has a tremendous personality, and a wicked sense of humour. She is beautiful inside AND out. So get ready to eat your words. Casey's new material due to be released this year will show you just how remarkable she is.

Well said, Jenny. Casey Donovan has an incredible voice, and she will be around long after some of the five minute wonders have been and gone. What does it matter what size dress she wears. She has an enormous talent that will be around for a long time yet.

Casy Donovan I have never met you. I am a senior. But I do congratulate you on the wonderful performances I have seen. Don't listen to those of the above who write so cruelly of your talent. Can they walk in your shoes? I am sure you will continue with your life and use your musicianship and beautiful voice and give happiness to many people for years. I don't usually write in pages like this but I am so upset today to see the article in the Sun Telegraph page 28 July 30 2006 written by Perter Holmes about Idol Four. Why was it necessary to print an unflattering photo of you. Don't take it too hard. People do care about you and want you to do well. Believe in yourself and your dreams will come true. Im so ashamed for those people who cant make a comment without being degrading, Casey Donovan is a young girl with feelings, she has a beautiful soul inside and out, her voice is special and she deserves the chance to share it with us all.Why cant people make comments regarding her talent and look past her weight. Im 42 years old and I think Casey is beautiful and talented and has the world at her feet.

ok, a very late response to this thread, I just wanted to add my two cents. I don´t live in Australia anymore but as an Australian I am always keeping up with the local gossip. Low and behold today I came across ninemsn.com and it showed the front cover of new idea reading ¨casey´s struggle with obesity¨and a picture of what I can only aliken to a person whose life is in danger.

I never did accept excuses like, ´it´s the hormones´or ´it´s hereditary. Save the nonesense. This girl is not a good embassador for our country, and is setting a horrible example for our younger generation. Shame on the people who feed her lies saying she is beautiful on the outside. That is not truth and I bet my irrelevant two cents she knows it.

What a horrible life she must have with a problem like that and living in the public eye. I can only hope for the sake of her health (and not her career) that she looses that weight and fast. As for her career, well, there are a million other people who deserve their 5 minutes of fame more than her and will never get it. I am ashamed of reality T.V. shows which are spitting out superstars like they were popcorn.

Shame on our culture for giving the ratings to those kind of shows.

Just wish Kyle was a judge because he would have made sure she got voted out earlier. The show's ratings would have gone through the roof....after all Idol is really just a show whereby the winners and grinners are the judges each paid 1 million per season and the crew get paid handsomely too. The contestants just get ridiculed and their so called singing career destroyed before it even started. Look at the divas performing in front of the local rissoles to packed audiences...not. The only plausible success is Shannon but his career appears to have died. By the way....singles sales do not make you a success. If Delta's career has stalled indefinitely then what chance do the rest of the hasbeens have ?....our charts are continuosly dominated by US artists...Reality people !

Daniel Johns and Silverchair were 14 when they won a music competition as a band who could already play and sing, had FOUND a sound and had already been playing local gigs in newcastle. The competition prize was to have a day recording in TripleJ's studios. TripleJ then held a radio competition of recorded tracks of unsigned australian bands and Silverchair's track "Tomorrow". Powderfinger got signed the same way..
THIS is how real talent is found.. and assessed.. not on TV doing covers but on the music they can write themselves and put straight into the same context on radio as all the new music coming out from the big artists so its not them vs a bunch of other kids... it's their own real abilities and talents (NOT potential while copying other artists material) vs the established artists and they are subject to the same scrutiny.
and both artists have grown since day 1 and have been entirely deserving of the attention they recieved and have made great music and become only more prominent since... as opposed to all the idol finallists who occasionally get a nineMSN web article about them if their lucky and mostly write pop and get most of their money from endorsements.

Casey Donovan has potential.. but she has no talent. she has no self dicipline.. she has it hard with health issues but i dont see her writing anything good yet... Neon Ballroom and Diorama. Silverchairs 2 best albums to date.. when writing the songs for neon ballroom daniel johns was so severely anorexic the family doctor said he would die if he went on like he was much longer.. yet during this time he wrote some of the most intense songs i've ever heard.. then during diorama when he was on the road to recovery he wrote a series of masterpieces and worked with Van Dyke Parkes to create a work of art of a record. and he was only 21.. then he played live at the Arias in 2002 when he had full body arthritis doped up on painkillers... he has strength.. casey donovan has problems too.. maybe even as severe... but she's not doing shit! she has no original artistic vision that she has shown us OR her label, so good on SonyBMG for dropping her!

Casey has plenty of artistic vision, She is a proud indie solo artist who strives to achieve her best, but at her own pace and in her own time, No doubt she has lived the struggles of the industry but she is over that and has begun to re-build the foundations of her career..

She released an EP last year which has had some great reviews and is currently putting together another album with plans to join forces with another act next year to do a tour and promote her new material..

She's recently been apart of vibe alive an indigenous cultural festival and was featured in there add campaign which aired nationally, she was recently nominated for another "deadly award" for song of the year last month...

She often performs at venues in sydney and music festivals like, woodford and dreaming, she also sells and performs artwork pieces she creates at markets around sydney and often performs there..

While she may not be as commercially successfull she still has a lot of respect from those who support her and help her as she gets her life in order..

Shes a big girl, and yes maybe dangerous in health but people need to chill the hell out, like its her not you!!
losing weight isnt as easy for some people and comments like that doesnt make it any easier on her and infact is extremley disrespectful and hurtful
maybe you should try being fat and walk down the street and have people look at you and say the things they say to her and lets see what you think then...
